Chinese Culture Week – Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern Festival

Aims:

1.Understand the foods and celebrations of the Mid-Autumn Festival
2.Increase children’s interest in Chinese culture

Content:

The children play lantern games and guess lantern riddles.

Chinese Culture Week –Let’s celebrate the National Day

Aims:

1.Understand the significance of China’s National Day
2.Know what to do when participating in the flag-raising ceremony and singing the national song

Content:

A flag-raising ceremony is held in the school so that children can understand the etiquette they should pay attention to when participating in the flag-raising ceremony and playing and singing the national song, and experience the solemnity of the flag-raising ceremony. Teachers also explain National Day activities to children, such as fireworks, military parades, etc.

Chinese Culture Week –Chinese Art Qi Qi Painting

Aims:

1.Understand the characteristics of Chinese art – ink painting
2.Increase children’s interest in Chinese culture

Content:

During the activity, children are introduced to ink painting, so as to cultivate their understanding of traditional Chinese culture.

Chinese Culture Week – Traditional Chinese Costumes

Aims:

Understanding of Chinese culture – Characteristics of clothes
Can tell the difference between traditional Chinese clothes and the clothes we wear today
Cultivate children’s sense of belonging to China.

Content:

The teacher shows some pictures of Chinese clothes and asks the children to describe their characteristics. The teacher briefly introduces that wearing traditional Chinese clothes is one of the Chinese cultures. In addition, children are invited to try wearing traditional Chinese clothes back to school to share with each other.

Chinese Culture Week – Chinese Culture Fun Day

Aims:

Understand Chinese culture and art – How to make sachets
Understand Chinese culture and art – How to make bread dolls
Able to tell the Chinese traditional food
Able to tell the architecture of China – the Great Wall
Able to tell the Chinese sports – archery, football, 15-pin ball
Cultivate children’s sense of belonging to China.

Content:

The teacher designed different activities to invite children to understand Chinese culture and learn through the games.
