Chinese Culture Week – Mid-Autumn Festival  – Lantern Play

Aims:

  1. Understand the foods and celebrations of the Mid-Autumn Festival
  2. Increase children’s interest in Chinese culture

Content:

The children play lantern games and guess lantern riddles.


Chinese Culture Week – Let’s celebrate the National Day

Aims:

  1. Understand the significance of China’s National Day
  2. Know what to do when participating in the flag-raising ceremony and singing the national song

Content:

A flag-raising ceremony is held in the school so that children can understand the etiquette they should pay attention to when participating in the flag-raising ceremony and playing and singing the national song, and experience the solemnity of the flag-raising ceremony. Teachers also explain National Day activities to children, such as fireworks, military parades, etc.


Chinese Culture Week – Chinese Art Qi Qi Painting

Aims:

  1. Understand the characteristics of Chinese art – ink painting
  2. Increase children’s interest in Chinese culture

Content:

During the activity, children are introduced to ink painting, so as to cultivate their understanding of traditional Chinese culture.


Activities to commemorate Chairman Jiang Zemin

Activity goals:

  1. Express deep condolences to President Jiang Zemin
  2. Get to know China’s former leaders

Content:

All students  participate in the moment of silence and the memorial service for former President Jiang Zemin.


Kowloon Walled City Park Cultural Heritage Day Tour

Aims:

  1. Enhance parent-child and teacher-student interaction, and promote children’s understanding of the country and Chinese culture – Appreciate the courtyard architecture
  2. Enhance the cultivation of Chinese culture and interest in appreciating culture and art

Content:

Our kindergarten takes children to visit Kowloon Walled City Park.


Lunar New Year Activities – New Year’s Eve

Aims:

  1. Understand the customs and significance of traditional Chinese festivals
  2. Establish good character and cultivate national identity

Content:

Through the New Year’s Eve market, flower arrangement activities, and game stalls, children can learn about the food, customs and celebrations of the Lunar New Year, and enhance their interest in Chinese culture.


Lunar New Year Activities – Group Worship

Aims:

  1. Understand the customs and significance of traditional Chinese festivals
  2. Teach children to respect and care for others
  3. Learn the traditional Chinese virtues of being polite

Content:

Through activities, we can enhance children’s understanding of Chinese festivals and increase their interest in Chinese culture.


Chinese New Year Event – ​​Tangyuan

Aims:

  1. Understand traditional Chinese festival foods
  2. Children and parents can understand traditional culture

Content:

Parents and children make glutinous rice balls together.

Content:

Chinese Culture School-based Art Activity Day

Aims:

  1. Understand the characteristics of Chinese art – Blue and White Porcelain (Kindergarten Class)
  2. Understand Chinese folk customs – Fire Dragon Dance (Kindergarten)
  3. Understand the characteristics of Chinese art – ink painting (panda) (Kindergarten to senior high school)

Content:

During the activities, children are introduced to China’s national treasure – the giant panda, Chinese art – blue and white porcelain, and traditional folk customs – fire dragon dance, etc., so as to cultivate children’s understanding of traditional Chinese culture.
