Visit to the ‘Sha Tin Heritage Museum’

  • Enhance children’s understanding of Chinese culture
  • Learn about Cantonese opera and understand Hong Kong culture

Our K3 students visited the Sha Tin Heritage Museum for a hands-on learning experience led by their teachers.

Objective(s)

  • Understand the origin and significance of the Double Ninth Festival
  • Understand the traditional customs of the Double Ninth Festival

Brief Descriptions:

The teacher led the children to have a picnic experience at the village playground.

Chinese Culture Week – Let’s celebrate the National Day

Objective(s)

  • Understand the significance of China’s National Day
  • Understand the matters that should be paid attention to when participating in the flag-raising ceremony and singing the national anthem
  • Brief Descriptions:
  • A flag-raising ceremony is held in the school so that children can understand the etiquette they should pay attention to when participating in the flag-raising ceremony and playing and singing the national anthem, and experience the solemnity of the flag-raising ceremony.Teachers also explain National Day activities to children, such as fireworks, military parades, etc.

Chinese Culture Week – Learn about traditional costumes

Objective(s)

  • Initial understanding of Chinese culture – Characteristics of clothes
  • Be able to tell the difference between traditional Chinese clothes and the clothes we wear today
  • Cultivate children’ sense of belonging to China.
  • Brief Descriptions:
  • Children wear different Chinese clothes  and display them with CATWALK to share with their schoolmates.

Chinese Culture Fortnight – Learn about Chinese food, Chinese festivals, four seasons and Chinese festivals

Objective(s)

  • Initial Understanding of Chinese Culinary Culture – Chinese Foods and Cooking Methods, Chinese Tea Art
  • Fostering a Sense of Identity and Belonging to China in Young Children.
  • Brief Descriptions:Helping young children recognize and differentiate between Chinese and Western foods, Chinese cooking methods (steaming, frying), and types of Chinese tea. Enjoying these during snack time and bringing back these foods and drinks to share with family at home.

Visit the Patriotic Education Support Center – “Engaging with Replicas to Understand Chinese History” Event

Objective(s)

  • Understanding Chinese culture
  • Enhancing young children’s interest in Chinese culture
  • Learning to respect Chinese history

     

    Brief Descriptions:

    K3 learnt about Chinese culture through guided tours, interactive games, touching replicas of historical artifacts, and listening to historical stories, to gain an understanding of Chinese culture.

Chinese Culture Week-Mid-Autumn Festival Reunion Dinner and Lantern Party

Objective(s)

  • Understand the foods and celebrations of the Mid-Autumn Festival
  • Promote children’s interest in Chinese culture
  • Know how to respect Chinese eating etiquette and respect elders
  • Know how to cooperate with peers

Brief Descriptions:

All the children and parents of the school had a Mid-Autumn Festival reunion dinner, played lanterns, guessed lantern riddles and performed dwarf dance.
